the set of 4 copies
These four volumes are annuals curated, edited, and designed by Rohbundō, a pioneering Japanese publisher in the field of typography. Each volume presents an extensive survey of corporate identity and visual identity systems from Japan and around the world.
Rohbundō was an early and consistent supporter of 8vo, the London-based design studio, and Baumann & Baumann from Germany. As a result, their work is featured prominently throughout the series.
The collection also includes substantial documentation of major identity programs, such as the Musée d’Orsay visual identity by Jean Widmer and Bruno Monguzzi, with many pages from the original design manuals, as well as the visual identity for the British Roundel railway group by Michael Denny and others. In total, the four volumes present hundreds of CI/VI projects—far too many to list individually—making them an invaluable archive of late-20th-century identity design.
Each copy is hardcover and approximately 300 pages, giving the four-volume set considerable weight. Because about half of the $220 price goes toward international shipping, the set is exceptionally good value for anyone seeking a substantial and historically significant design archive.
