art work from
Alexander Liberman’s “The Artist In His Studio”, 1960.

This is a tri-fold poster invitation (54 × 29.5 cm) for the COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS Autumn–Winter 1993–94 collection, held at Carreau du Temple in Paris.
Unlike standard direct mail distributed to customers, this piece was issued in an extremely limited print run for a select group of invitees. Despite being over 30 years old, it has been exceptionally well preserved, making it an extremely rare copy.

The collection theme, Artists in their Studios, appears to draw on the perspective found in The Artist in His Studio by Alexander Liberman—photographer, artist, and longtime art director and editorial director of Vogue since the 1940s. Rather than focusing solely on the finished works themselves, it reflects a way of understanding creativity through the “site of production” that exists behind them.
