Introduction by Herbert Bayer
If I were asked to name a handful of the most beautiful book covers ever designed, this would undoubtedly be one of them.
The title typography is both functional and elegant, balancing asymmetry with remarkable precision. The black frame extends seamlessly from the front cover across the spine and onto the back cover, giving the book a striking sense of depth and intelligence as a physical object. In contrast, the organic red spiral-like graphic on the rear cover creates a powerful visual tension, resulting in a presence that is nothing short of extraordinary.
Inside is an equally remarkable archive of work produced by Studio Boggeri, whose roster included talents such as Ballmer, Calabresi, Huber, Martinelli, Monguzzi, Muratore, Schawinsky, and Vivarelli. Filled with outstanding work by these designers and many others, this is not only a beautiful object but also one of the most valuable graphic design archives a designer could own.
