Released in 2012, WERK magazine Issue 20 is a highly valuable archival volume that compiles the distinctive production features of each previous issue, including printing details, binding, and book construction.
By providing a comprehensive overview of Issues 1–19, it serves as an essential reference within the history of the magazine.
Theseus Chan is most well known for his highly creative independent magazine called “WERK” First published in year 2000, it is a limited publication magazine printing around 800 to 1000 copies for each issue. It is so elaborately made that each and every issue of this magazine has a different look and expression, making them individually unique.
That is why “extremities” – meaning “an intense degree,” “a drastic act” or “the farthest or most remote part of the body” – is the word that well describes Theseus Chan’s creative style.
For this exhibition, Theseus will show case the newly published “WERK No.20” for the first time to the public, using the exhibit space itself as a medium to express his philosophy towards creativity.
