This book was reissued in hardcover in 1970 following the favorable reception of its original paperback edition released in 1969.
My final post of the year features a special issue released in 1969 as an Idea extra edition, entirely dedicated to Herb Lubalin, the New York–based graphic designer, typographer, calligrapher, and art director. Spanning 120 pages, it is a remarkable publication from more than half a century ago.
There are very few monographs devoted to Lubalin, and this Idea extra is particularly special. It includes two original letterheads that appear to be actual printed pieces, mounted directly into the publication rather than reproduced as images.
