This book includes neither the kinds of images found in advertising or manga, nor those that expand the visual world as illustrated by Kepes.
Nor is it a pictorial encyclopedia filled with countless signs and symbols.
Instead, it gathers images that may seem outdated or stripped of contemporary meaning—images that have been nearly forgotten.
Yet each of them is rooted in a deeper past, intricately connected to primordial forms that lie within our unconscious perception.
What we aim to explore through this book is a journey into the “roots” of such imagery.
It is not simply a visual journey, but a sensory experience that includes vibrations and bodily awareness—an exploration of the history of images born from inner perception.

この小冊子を占拠するものたちは、上記の著作群からはみ出しがちな古ぼけともすれば現代的意義を失いかけたかに見える図像群なのである。

そのすべてに、背光性の根、毛根や気根が微細にのび、原イメージへと向って複雑にからみあい・消えてゆく根が無数に付着するのを見出されるに違いない。

近過去から遠過去へと逆照射する光束に浮び上がる
内知覚的＜イメージ図像史＞の、倒立根の数本をたどる探素への体験の旅なのである。
その体験過程には、地球といこう球体上に発生した、透明球体としての眼球が視とるべきものとして、振動を含む全感覚の出没や統合が要請されている。
内知覚的原イメージとは、そうした繊細な身体体験過程を指している。
ここでいう図像とは、気分的に描かれた絵ではない。
現代流行のイラストレーションとも違う。線の細い図表や統計図表の概念からもはみ出したものた。
太古からヒトの群れが身体で感覚し、脳隨で知覚したイメージを集積し混合し、く構造的＞に像ーイコンー化して生まれ出たものたち。
さまざまな宇宙観、神話や不可視な宗教体系など、巨大から微細にいたる自然の模型化であり、。
その視覚的投影体である図像群を指している。
こうしたく図像＞の遺産は、気が遠くなるように豚大なものた。
頭蓋内に点火され、生まれ出ようとする観念のモナドは、図像化によって外在化し、自立する。
光を浴びてうかびあがる細部のくまどりの明析さへの批判が新たなく問いを生み出し、無限の循環作用が生まれる。
たとえば、ヨガ想術で、体内体軸上に内観されるチャクラが平面上に引き出され、散開してマンダラとなり、次いで塔ーストゥーパーとなって宇宙空間に吃立する展開過程など、図像化による観想・統合の蝶介なしにはあり得なかった思想展開だといってよいだろう。
この線的過程は第田章において集約・展開されるが一方、たとえば胎内を上昇するクンダリーニにみられるように、原想的図像にとどまらす。
宇宙本にまきつく上昇螺旋形として、蛇的図像へと変容し、また異物的根源から商業記号にまで拡散する錬金術図像へ転位する多彩な解読をともなう図像も数多い。
