Roman Signer
This rare seven-piece direct mail set was produced in 2024 in collaboration with Swiss artist Roman Signer, renowned for his contemporary installation practice, as part of Comme des Garçons’ annual direct mail artist program. Crafted on thick gray paperboard, the set comprises two red-covered volumes announcing seasonal sales, four white-covered volumes of more than 20 pages each featuring folded spreads and intricate pop-up constructions, and one natural-toned booklet created to announce the opening of tao at Isetan Shinjuku.
In addition to Roman Signer’s striking installation photographs, the volumes include numerous sketches that offer a rare glimpse into his creative process. A remarkable and highly collectible ensemble, this set blurs the line between commercial ephemera and the artist’s book.
