Romano Hänni (*1956) was born in Basel, Switzerland.
Following a apprenticeship as a typesetter from 1973 to 1977,
he studied typographic design at Basel School of Design.
He opened his studio in 1980.
He goes on to develop various typographic concepts,
including those for the Art Basel catalog (1982 to 1996) and
the daily newspaper Basler Zeitung (1983 to 2003),
while creating hand printed matters at his own type shop.
