Written Language Contemporary poetry collected by Simon Vinkenoog

Poets and their handwriting. A handwriting which at first sight may not be distinguishable from the handwriting of traveling salesman, beauty queens or distinguished senators from somewhere.
But at the back of this handwriting, hidden in it, lies the poem, the modern poem with its own form and content, cross section of the world. A.D. nineteen hundred and sixty one. This collection will be expanded in the future, with the aim of becoming a living collection of poetry, written language, provender for graphologists.

The publisher / the editor

Quadrat Prints were a series of experimental graphic design publication edited by Pieter Brattinga and given away by the Hilversum printer de Jong from the early fifties to the mid-seventies. Each one was ten inches square, mostly several stapled pages but some were loose leaf sheets (this alphabet) in a box or folder.
