The exhibition Jean Prouvé Three nomadic structures was organized by the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. It is the first public museum exhibition in America on Jean Prouvé, 1901-1984.
The concept for the show was developed by Evan Douglis, Director of Columbia Architecture Galleries, and Robert Rubin, co-curators.
Robert Rubin wrote the catalogue, except where otherwise credited.
Jean Prouvé
1901年パリに生まれる。アール・ヌーヴォーの巨匠、ヴィクトール・プルーヴェを父に持つ。アール・ヌーヴォーの環境の中で鉄工芸の技術を習得し、鉄という素材を熟知するようになる。
1923年頃に自分のアトリエを設立、この頃パリでル・コルビュジエ、シャルロット・ペリアンらと知り合う。1930年には彼等と現代芸術家組合（UAM）を設立する。合理的で無駄の無い構造フォルムによる家具を多くデザインしたプルーヴェは、ナンシー市の市長、大学の教授等も努め、建築家としても活躍した。家具作品の多くは、2002年にヴィトラ社より待望の復刻を遂げた。
