The theme of COMME des GARÇONS’ 2026 Direct Mail is the revival of Six Sense, the legendary publication released in eight issues between 1988 and 1991 under the art direction of Tsuguya Inoue.
Distributed to customers at the launch of the season, these two digest editions reinterpret the original oversized format of 40 × 30 cm into a reduced 30 × 22 cm format, each combining two issues into a single 52-page volume:
Six New again 01–02
Six New again 03–04
Original copies published more than 35 years ago now regularly trade on the market for around USD 200–300 per issue. Rather than simple reproductions, these new editions subtly recontextualize the original material while introducing newly added imagery and contemporary photographic selections.
01–02 newly incorporates photographs by postwar Japanese masters Takuma Nakahira and Kenshu Shintsubo, alongside works by photographers including André Kertész, Peter Lindbergh, Minsei Tominaga, and Cecil Beaton, among others.
03–04 features photographs by Josef Koudelka, Robert Frank, Philip Green, Arthur Elgort, Azzedine Alaïa, Edward Weston, Graciela Iturbide, Junko Oki, Kenta Umemoto, Marc Riboud, Tomohiro Muda, Oleinik Liliia, Yu Yamauchi, and others.
Perhaps this is the last opportunity to physically experience the world of COMME des GARÇONS’ legendary “Six” once again through an official direct mail release.
