While staying in Fukuoka, Gander drank a cocktail invented by an old bartender at a bar he visited. Jet-lagged, tired, and drunk during his trip, he couldn’t remember the encounter or whether the cocktail really existed, but after a while he was informed of the bartender’s death and realized that the legendary cocktail actually existed… This mysterious cocktail experience prompted Gander to ask artists he knew for cocktail recipes, and gradually he discovered an affinity between cocktail making and conceptual art production.
