Two lines of different direction, when connected, create an angle, which begins to define a two dimensional space. Unlike a straight line, which is defined by its two end points the angled line is characterized by three points.

Angled lines contrast strongly with typography, which is predominantly horizontal and vertical.

A stepped line, consisting of horizontals and verticals, echoes the horizontal and vertical characteristics of typography.
