DAEは一般的なデザイン学科のようなのデザイン対象が決まってる中でスキルを磨くものでなく、Man and Well-being（人と健康であること）、Man and Mobility（人と移動性）、Man and Leisure（人と余暇）などといった専攻のもと、人間と社会とのコニュニケーションをしっかりと考える教育をベースとしているため一般的なデザイン学校の卒業作品と違って非常にユニークなアイデアばかりです。
また新聞紙のような紙に印刷した束をハードカバーで装幀されたデザインは2016年度のBest Dutch Book Designsの選出に入っています。
