This is a special issue of 『idea No.260 Work from London』.
Centered around the “Work from London” exhibition, which began at the 1996 Brno International Biennale, this issue explores the wave of graphic design emerging from London during the 1990s.

Featuring studios and designers closely associated with the UK graphic scene of the period — including Tomato, Cartlidge Levine, Mark Farrow, and figures surrounding Neville Brody — the issue goes far beyond a simple presentation of works.

In addition, the issue also includes a special feature on 『Process: A Tomato Project』, further deepening its focus on the experimental visual language and multidisciplinary approach of TOMATO.

It examines how the rise of Macintosh and DTP transformed production environments, how vacant industrial spaces and warehouses became studios for small creative teams, and how graphic design became deeply connected with music, film, advertising, and post-production culture in London at the time.
The result is an important document that captures the atmosphere and experimental spirit of 1990s UK culture, where graphic design, typography, music, film, and technology intersected in complex and exciting ways.
