This publication accompanies the exhibition at the Museum Angewandte Kunst, Frankfurt am Main, September 21st 2013 until February 2nd 2014 Alexandre Wollner, born in 1928 in Sao Paulo, is one of the most important and successful graphic designers of the second half of the 20th Century. He played a prominent role in the artistic, cultural and economic foundation of the modern Brazilian design and still has an enormous impact on the design scene in Brazil. In South America Wollner enjoys high popularity, but his work has still to be discovered outside this continent. The present publication provides around 120 works of the designer. The overview focuses on the strong influence of the Ulm School of Design (HfG. Hochschule fur Gestaltung), where Wollner was staying 1954-1958, and of European culture on the Brazilian Wollner.
日本ではほとんど知られていませんが、Alexandre Wollnerは20世紀を代表するブラジル人グラフィックデザイナーです。南米のデザイン感覚を持ち合わせながらも、1954-1958年にドイツのulm造形大学でOtl AicherやMax Billからデザインを学ぶことで大きな影響を受け、デザインスタイルを確立しました。
過去にWollnerの作品をここまでフォーカスした本はなく、Rotisで組まれた非常に美しい本書は、ロジカルな作品解説とともにデザインを探求する造形者にとって非常に興味深い内容が詰まっています。
また2013年9月にMuseum Angewandte Kunstでのエキシビション開催に伴って出版された本なので、完売した際に再販される可能性は極めて低いと思われますので、この機会をお見逃しのないことを強くおすすめいたします。
